Bunny Wailer's Biography

Neville Livingstone

Bunny Wailer, whose real name is Neville Livingstone was born in Kingston in 1947. He met Bob Marley at childhood and the two became friends. Indeed, the two buddies, in their teens will become students of their Joe Higgs who teaches them all his musical knowledge. At this time they encounter a certain Peter Tosh… The three friends will create successively Teenagers, then the Wailing Rude boys and the Wailing Wailers. It's Bunny Wailer who makes the vocal harmonies in the group.

Studio One

Having worked with Leslie Kong, it's Studio One, with Clement Coxsone Dodd that they will acquire their early Notoriety. The Wailers will indeed release no fewer than 70 singles for Studio One, in the style of the time: between repeatedly soul songs and original tunes such as "Simmer Down". Bunny rather discreet in general, knows to be there at the right time and therefore we appreciate him singing on the song "Sunday Morning. The Singer

It is a compilation of his singles that will attain a good success. Followed by the albums "Protest" in 1977 and "Struggle" in 1979, and a participation in the soundtrack "Rockers" and the hit "Love Fire". In 1980, he released an album taking titles of the Wailers of the Island era.

The Last of the Trio

Then he produced, at the death of Bob Marley, the famous "Tribute", in memory of his childhood friend. Bunny Wailer then takes a step back with the advent of the digital age in the 80's reggae .. They try to reform the Wailers with Peter and Justin Braithwaite, but despite the success of the first title "Nice Time," they face the refusal to Rita Marley, who has inherited the copyright of her husband.
